Have you got recipe with self-raising flour as one of the ingredient? I have plenty of them. The problem is sometimes I don’t have it ready stock. So… I used this recipe to make it. I got the recipe from one of cooking book at home. I usually make only half so I don’t have to keep it for a long time.
Ingredients:
- 1 kg plain flour
- 4 level teaspoons bicarbonate soda (baking soda)
- 10 level teaspoons of cream tartar
Directions:
- Crush soda, cream of tartar, add to flour
- Sift three times
- Keep in air-tight tin
Notes:
As an alternative if you have baking powder at home, you can make your self-rising flour with adding baking powder and salt to your flour. For 1 cup all-purpose flour, you can add 1 ½ teaspoon of baking powder and ¼ teaspoon of salt. Mix it well and sift it.
